Papaya, scientifically known as Carica papaya is believed to have originated in the Tropics of the Americas and Southern Mexico. Our Papayas are locally sourced here in South Florida where we come across many varieties with different sizes, color and shape.
Papaya contains antioxidants, including carotenoids which can neutralize free radicals. Papain enzyme in papaya may help to ease digestion and aid in constipation. Papaya seeds are known to have anti-parasitic properties.

Papaya Pro Tips
Papayas will arrive hard and unripe. When ripe it will become soft and aromatic, and when cut open, will have a soft texture. Papaya is at its sweetest when the skin starts to form dark spots, almost as though it's going bad. Don't be alarmed, the insides will be intact. This might sound odd, but we enjoy our Papayas best when a tiny bit of Mold starts to appear on the skin (we do not eat the skin or the mold)
