Rambutan, also known as Nephelium lappaceum is native to the Indonesian region and other tropical regions of Southeast Asia. Rambutan is from the same family as Lychee & Longan, with a very similar flavor and texture, but this is their cooler looking cousin.
iHeartFruitBox sources our rambutan from farmers in Guatemala & Honduras, whose climates produces some of the sweetest Rambutan's we have ever tasted.
Rambutan is a very interesting looking fruit with soft fuzzy hairs/spines that are dark red to light green. The white flesh is firm, sweet and juicy. The pulp surrounds a large seed that is inedible.
Rambutan is a rich source of fiber, vitamin C and copper which plays a key role in proper growth and maintenance for many cells in the body, including those in the heart, brain and bones.
Being that fruit comes in all different sizes and weight, we aim to pack our boxes to maximum capacity
When you place an order please be aware of delivery times to receive your box, as fruit will ripen quickly in the outdoor heat.
WE PACK ORDERS FOR SHIPPING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE WEEK FOLLOWING YOUR PURCHASE DATE. ORDERS DO NOT SHIP UPON PURCHASE.
Rambutan Pro Tips
This is ready to eat ripe upon arrival. For extended shelf life, store in the refrigerator with high humidity. Break the skin and eat the flesh that surrounds the seed. Do not eat the seed. Due to oxidation the outer shell may become dark in color (sometimes even close to black) but this does not affect the fruit inside. The seed is very soft/delicate so be gentle biting into the flesh.
Fruit arrived on time. It was ingeniously packed.
I couldn’t be more pleased.
So delicious and sweet! The kids loved them.
Really enjoyed this fruit really sweet
Loved these. They’re like oversized sweet watery grapes.. Best to gnaw on them to negate the risk of eating some of the husk. Overall a delicious fruit!
I love the Rambutan! Thank you for the wonderful fruit options!
I’m afraid the box arrived with zero chill left from the ice packs in the package. The fruit was already growing mould and quite a few of them were going off already. It may be because of the Memorial Day weekend that messed with the shipping, but I wouldn’t order them again unless I had reassurances they’d arrive fresh.
